This was a fun event but it was very difficult to find out who organized it. None of the local businesses seemed to be involved.

It's not like Saundercrook would ever actually get community businesses involved. That would take someone who actually cares about the community, and not just monetary gain and his re-election campaign.

I was hoping to see some local initiatives to clean up garbage in the area, or perhaps information explaining why it's acceptable to dump in Sunnyside Park, but it appears there's been no news since January. Thanks for keeping your finger on the pulse of the neighbourhood.

What is your position on the deal proposed with CUPE 79 and 416 on Friday?

Could you tell us how you will vote in today's disappointing garbage settlement and why?

What is your view of the agreement with CUPE 416 an 79?

Can the city afford this agreement at a time when many people are being laid off?

Saundercook voted in favour of both agreements.

I look forward to the hearing the reasoning almost as much as I look forward to the 2010 election.

Didn't realize that the citizens of Bloor West/Parkdale stood with unions and the small minority of Torontonians that actually supported this very bad deal.

This was the reply I got directly from him via email:

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time for Toronto. I along with you am upset that this strike ever occurred, but cannot vote in a way that would allow it to go on any longer. The current deal should have been in place before the strike was ever allowed begin.
A mandate was given by City Council to the City Bargaining Team with specific financial limits. The final agreement was within the financial parameters set by Council (contrary to media reports).
The agreement included the phasing out of sick bank pay over the next five years, which will allow Toronto to see savings in staffing costs of approximately 1.9 million dollars.
This deal is going to set the basis for any future negotiations with other unions, in particular the Police and Fire and should help to curb their demands and save the City money in the future.
This deal gives a lower salary increase than other municipalities near and around Toronto have settled at and given during similar negotiations.
This has been a difficult decision for me and it is my hope that this settlement will set the building blocks down to avoid another strike situation where the citizens of Toronto are forced to suffer through again.

His statement that the "The agreement included the phasing out of sick bank pay over the next five years" seems inconsistent with what the National Post reported - i.e. that sick bank pay will be phased out over the next 30 years since existing staff can keep this benefit.

I find in general this website seems to be rather devoid of any statement of Bill's position on any issue. It's great that he likes attending community events etc. but it would be nice to see what Bill actually stands for.

Well its obvious that Mr. Saundercook is content in hiding his allegiances and motives from his constiuents. I guess that's fine, but he has lost my family's vote for the next election. Unfortunately for him, my words won't be as muted when he comes calling in 2010.

Your stance on daycare in High Park is short sighted, uninformed and uninspired. Note that a Facebook Group has been created with the sole intention of preventing your re-election.
